Multiple fatalities have been confirmed in Laurel County, Kentucky following a reported tornado. Saturday morning, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that nine people died and others had numerous severe injuries after the reported tornado.

Parts of Laurel County, Kentucky, will be under a curfew for a week while the community recovers from a deadly and devastating tornado that tore through the area, bringing catastrophic damage to London.

Flags at the Laurel County Fire Department are flying at half-staff in memory of Major Leslie Leatherman, who began as a volunteer at the department over 30 years ago.

The family's home was picked up and thrown across the street when a tornado ripped through the area, destroying everything they own.

Pulaski County.Highway 27 took the brunt of the storm, damaging homes, businesses, powerlines, and even the power company. Shingles and part of the RECC's roof are missing. Meanwhile, Wake Cumberland Watersports across the street was spared by the storm.

Disaster relief and clean up continued Monday in Laurel County, Kentucky after a tornado touched down in the area late Friday night.

Fire officials say a first responder was found on top of his wife, shielding her from the tornado, and he may have even known it was her.

Friday’s EF-3 tornado is responsible for 17 deaths in Laurel County and two more in neighboring areas. But in the wake of tragedy, people there and from outside the area are stepping up to help out.
