Hideki Matsuyama could not get the accustomed Tiger Woods photo and congratulations after winning the 2024 Genesis Invitational.

“During the competition rounds, hole No. 7 will feature an all-white flag, in honor of Woods’ mother, Tida. From Thailand, Tida was a faithful Buddhist; the number seven and color white are significant in the Buddhism and will be displayed in her honor,” a statement from the PGA Tour read.

Saying he is “just not ready,” golf superstar Tiger Woods announced Monday morning that he will not play in this week’s Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Club. Woods had committed last week to play in the Genesis, where he serves as tournament host. His decision to play came just days after Woods announced his mother, Kultida, had died.
