Officials in Tennessee said at least three people were killed and another is missing after heavy rainfall led to flash flooding in Chattanooga and Hamilton County overnight.

The family of three was killed when saturated ground caused a large tree to fall in the Chattanooga suburb of East Ridge just after midnight, Hamilton County OEM spokesperson Amy Maxwell said. No one else is believed to be missing at this time, officials said.

Rescue crews pulled people out of submerged cars and homes overnight as floods swept the southeastern part of the state.
