Dozens of schools announced closures for Wednesday, and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from Wednesday morning into Thursday.

Weather Advisory goes into effect for all of Chicagoland at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with snow totals ranging from 3 to 6 inches, and the entire area seeing snow by 10 a.m.

The biggest winter storm of the winter season so far is set to hit the Chicago area Wednesday, bringing several inches of snow to much of the region.

Snow is expected to fall about one inch an hour from noon to 5 p.m. right on top of the evening commute, according the National Weather Service. Four to six inches is predicted in the Chicago area.
