There have been 1,288 confirmed measles cases in the country this year, according to CDC data. That’s more than the previous spike in 2019 and more than any full year since 1992.

Louisville officials said Tuesday that a second case of the measles was recently diagnosed in Jefferson County.

This year's measles outbreak is the worst since the disease was declared eliminated in 2000. Halfway through 2025, reported cases have already surpassed 1,274 − the peak for all of 2019.
