Victory over Japan Day is marked each year on 15 August - the date in 1945 when Japan surrendered to the Allied forces and World War Two ended.

Iconic landmarks in London were lit up with Union Jack flags on Friday evening to mark the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day.

The Service of Commemoration, organised by Penzance Council, took place in the Memorial Garden at Penlee Park on Friday, August 15, 2025.
