Los Angeles police Sgt. Shiou Deng, 53, a 27-year LAPD veteran, was killed early Monday, June 23, while assisting a motorist after a crash on the southbound 405 Freeway in the Brentwood area.

Sgt. Shiou Deng, 53, and motorist Jesus Garcia, 34, were killed on June 23, just north of Moraga Drive in Bel-Air. Deng was a 26 1/2-year department veteran.
