NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office has implemented a series of disciplinary actions and procedural reforms after mistakenly releasing inmate Khalil Bryan from custody on July 6. The release was caused by human error during overnight processing and led to the immediate termination and suspension of several deputies.

Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson is in the midst of fresh controversy after her office mistakenly released the wrong detainee from the parish jail in what she described as a clerical error. Hutson announced the unintended release of Khalil Bryan, 30, Friday afternoon. He remained at-large as of Monday morning.
