Harry Kane scored twice and Bayern Munich capitalized on a quick start to beat Flamengo, 4-2, in the Club World Cup round of 16.

It was a fine weekend for Europe’s elite at the Club World Cup. After Chelsea finally saw off Portugal’s Benfica on Saturday night, and Paris Saint-Germain made light work of Inter Miami on Sunday, Bayern Munich secured their passage into the quarter-finals with a 4-2 win over Flamengo.

Flamengo were spurred on by what felt like home support inside the ground after Gerson’s goal, but Leon Goretzka’s wonder strike shortly before halftime restored Bayern’s two-goal lead going into the break that was cut in half in the 55th minute when Jorginho converted the penalty awarded for Michael Olise’s handball in the box.
