The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a flap on a Boeing 737’s wing partially broke off before landing in Texas on Tuesday.

Part of a Boeing 737’s wing broke off while a Delta Air Lines flight was moving hundreds of miles an hour before landing in Texas on Tuesday.The horrifying mid-flight moment was reportedly captured on video by a passenger.

On Tuesday, August 19, a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-800 flew from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) with a severe mechanical issue that caused its flap to essentially hang from the wing.

AUSTIN, Texas (CNN) - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after part of a Delta Air Lines wing partially broke off during a flight on Tuesday. The flight departed from Orlando and landed safely in Austin, Texas, which was its scheduled destination.

In a playful take on selecting its new summer service lineup, Delta Air Lines has put at least some of the decision making directly into the hands of its fliers. Added bonus: none of the three destinations currently have nonstop service from the U.

The first picture depicts that very first passenger flight for Delta Air Lines from Dallas, Texas to Jackson, Mississippi. This is the ticket counter in the historic King Edward Hotel and some of the passengers, mostly businessmen, who were on this first flight to the Capital City.

Beginning August 25th through August 29th, SkyMiles members and Delta employees can vote using the Fly Delta App for one of the three European destinations – Sardinia, Malta, and Ibiza – for next summer. Delta will announce the winning destination within 30 days after voting closes.
