Charlie McAvoy has always dreamed about playing in the Olympics. The Boston Bruins defenseman will get his wish in 2026.

The Bruins defenseman was one of the “first six” players named to Team USA’s preliminary roster for the Milano Cortina games. A Long Island native, McAvoy has long said it’s a goal to represent the United States at the Olympics.

Pastrnak and Zacha helped lead Czechia to the gold medal at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. McAvoy, who has a decorated history with Team USA, was an alternate captain at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

The first six players set to represent USA Hockey at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics were officially announced.
