RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina district attorney has announced an investigation into how then-State Treasurer Dale Folwell used state government vehicles is ending with no charges filed, saying the review found that any alleged policy violations were “insufficient to support a successful criminal prosecution.”
Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman has asked to close a case against former State Treasurer Dale Folwell, who was being investigated over allegations he used state-owned vehicles for commuting and personal errands.
Treasurer Folwell has reimbursed the State of North Carolina $6,233.60 which accounts for commuting costs he should have been charged over the period in question. Folwell cooperated fully with the investigation.
