A Central Valley congressman voted to censure a fellow representative for protesting at President Donald Trump’s recent speech. During Wednesday’s joint session of Congress, Texas Congressman Al Green waved his cane in the air protesting the President’s remarks regarding cuts to Medicaid.

The House of Representatives voted Thursday to censure Texas Rep. Al Green. Rep. Jim Costa was among 10 Democrats backing the censure.

Green’s outburst was part of a larger pattern of Democratic protests, with some lawmakers engaging in both silent and vocal demonstrations against Trump’s speech. Democrats also faced criticism for refusing to stand and applaud when Trump honored a 13-year-old boy who survived brain cancer by naming him an honorary Secret Service agent.
