Byron Allen's Allen Media Group, Inc. has sold 10 local TV stations to Gray Media for $171 million. The deal, which Gray expects to close in the fourth quarter subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions,

The $171 million station sale comes after Allen spent hundreds of millions of dollars with a goal of becoming the nation's largest independent broadcaster.

Gray Media will acquire nearly a dozen local television stations from Allen Media Group, the companies announced on Friday.
