Starbucks has always said that its goal is to be your “third place.” The idea is that it’s the other place you go between home and work. It’s where you go to hang out with your friends, get some work done, study for an exam, or just read a book. Of course, being a third place means being a place where people want to hang out.

Just a few weeks ago, Starbucks announced a significant overhaul is coming to over 1,000 of its stores by the end of the year as the beloved coffee chain looks to fulfill its promise as the "third place" after home and office.

Starbucks is discontinuing its mobile order and pick-up only stores, a concept introduced six years ago to cater to on-the-go customers.
