Nationwide protests begin early in San Francisco with demonstration outside building where immigrants were told to report

Thousands of protests are underway across the Bay Area as part of the nationwide “No Kings" movement in opposition of President Donald Trump.

Journalists and advocates say San Francisco police detained multiple reporters and interfered with First Amendment rights during recent protests against immigration raids.

Hundreds marched again in San Francisco to protest the ongoing ICE raids in California, the second day of largely peaceful protests marred by incidents of violence and arrests.

Marches will unfold across the Bay Area tomorrow to challenge many of the Trump administration's policies, just days after ICE raids sparked protests in downtown Los Angeles.

SAN JOSE — Hundreds of people gathered Monday evening in San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco to protest deportation efforts by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as to stand in solidarity with protesters in Southern California.

Hundreds protest ICE raids in San Francisco for a second day, with large peaceful demonstrations and minor incidents of vandalism reported.

The outburst of public dissent occurred over the weekend after ICE began raids across Los Angeles. ICE said on Saturday that its “operations in LA this week” had resulted in 118 arrests of immigrants in Southern California.

Demonstrators who hoped to show peaceful support for immigrant rights protesters in Los Angeles wound up clashing with the police.

Peter Hosey is the organizer of the San Francisco "No Kings" protest. He's gathering people to the grass at Mission Dolores Park on Saturday. "We want to give people a chance to show up in the streets, in mass and great numbers, and take our message to the people," he said.
