Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the ceasefire with Iran unveiled by U.S. President Donald Trump and said he had agreed to it, but warned his country would "respond forcefully to any violation".

President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, after more than a week of fighting following Israel's strikes -- and subsequent U.S. attacks -- on Iran's nuclear program.

The Tuesday statement added that Israel would "respond forcefully" to any potential violation of the ceasefire.
