Arab and Muslim states including Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt have for the first time issued a joint call for Hamas to disarm and relinquish power in the Gaza Strip as part of efforts to end the war in the territory.

Several Arab and Muslim states joined other world powers in signing a declaration calling for Hamas to relinquish control in the Gaza Strip and get rid of its weapons. The declaration also called for a two-state solution to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Arab League has called on Hamas to disarm and end its rule in Gaza, in a “historic and unprecedented” move against the terrorist group.
