Evacuations have been ordered for some Eagle County residents on Wednesday as the Derby Fire experienced "significant growth overnight."

A wildfire burning in a difficult-to-access area of the White River National Forest in Eagle County more than tripled in size Tuesday, prompting closures and evacuations, fire officials said.

The Derby fire burning in the northwestern corner of Eagle County is estimated at approximately 50 acres, according to an 11 a.m. update Tuesday from the U.S. Forest Service. Fire activity is picking up
