US President Donald Trump’s decision to dismiss the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has sparked widespread criticism in the United States, but his economic adviser Kevin Hassett defended the move on Sunday.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who as Labor Secretary oversees the BLS, wrote on social media that she supports Trump’s decision to fire McEntarfer. “A recent string of major revisions have come to light and raised concerns about decisions being made by the Biden-appointed Labor Commissioner,” Chavez-DeRemer wrote.
