Houston-based Avelo Airlines is adding new routes out of Lakeland International Airport as part of a larger nationwide expansion.

The airline will start flying nonstop to Grand Rapids, Michigan and Long Island, New York in June. It is the only airline offering nonstop service between Central Florida and these two destinations. Avelo said one-way fees will start at $69 and operate twice weekly.
