A group of residents on the west side of San Francisco have filed a lawsuit in a last-ditch attempt to prevent the Great Highway from becoming a permanent park.

A lawsuit, which could come as soon as Tuesday, would nullify the actions of 54.7% of the voters, who opted to close the oceanside road.

Opponents of the divisive measure — passed by voters last November — say they’re taking their fight to the courts.
