Billy Long was a ridiculous character to put in the role of IRS commissioner, but despite his lack of qualifications, he appears to have put up a fight when it came to defending taxpayers' private data from immigration enforcement officials.

President Donald Trump is ousting Billy Long from his role as commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service just two months after he was confirmed to the position, three sources familiar told CNN.

It was not immediately clear why Long was dismissed. His quick exit makes him the shortest-tenured IRS commissioner confirmed by the Senate since 1862.
