The National Weather Service says an outbreak of severe storms could spawn tornadoes, heavy snow and high winds.

Severe, isolated storms with threats of large hail and damaging wind gusts may develop in North Texas on Wednesday, NWS Fort Worth posted on X. There is also a slight threat of a tornado, according to NWS Fort Worth. The storms are expected to materialize east of Interstate 35 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

One person has died and at least four others were injured when severe storms rolled through North Texas on Saturday morning, officials said. According to the Ennis Police Department, a 42-year-old man from Midlothian was killed when Ennis "experienced a severe weather incident this morning."

The North Texas region is under critical or extreme fire threats on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. This is the first time parts of the area have seen an extreme fire threat in about 16 years,
