Stephen King's novels have been adapted for years, but the first book he ever wrote, The Long Walk, is only getting big-screen treatment this year.

The Long Walk is one of Stephen King's earliest horror stories, but it's only now getting adapted into a feature film after many greats tried and failed.

Like the novel, the "intense, chilling, and emotional" thriller from Strange Darling screenwriter JT Mollner is set in the near future where America has become a police state. Every year, one hundred boys are selected to compete in a race with no destination. The last man standing gets the prize of a lifetime, while all others meet a cruel fate.
