BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs passed Senate Bill 5 on Thursday, advancing the bill to the next stage of the legislative process. It was a near-unanimous vote, with only one member of the 12-person committee voting ‘no.’

Just weeks after the governor vetoed a bill banning products containing THC, state senators revived it in the special session, filing nearly identical legislation and passing it unanimously out of committee with a 10-0 vote on Tuesday.

The Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs heard hours of public testimony on Tuesday, July 22, for the newly drafted bill to ban THC in Texas, which is very similar to the bill that Abbott vetoed in the sense that it calls for a total THC ban.
