Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget proposal includes a plan to close two State Correctional Institutions and two state-run centers. The proposal does not name which centers would close, but says the facilities would be examined under a process that would review all state-owned real estate to reduce costs.

Shapiro pitched the state should address the deficit by creating new revenue streams, including recreational marijuana and so-called skill games, as well as tapping into $1.6 billion in savings.
