Saudi Arabia can normalize ties with Israel only after the establishment of a Palestinian state, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan said, reiterating the kingdom’s stance days after President Emmanuel Macron said France would recognize it in September.

In the aftermath of French President Emmanuel Macron’s declaration that France would recognize the state of Palestine, U.N. representatives are outlining a plan for a two-state solution as pressure mounts for governments to get onboard.

Saudi Arabia and France on Tuesday called on countries at the United Nations to support a declaration that outlines "tangible, timebound, and irreversible steps" towards implementing a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.
