Twenty-one years after the original film, 'The Passion of the Christ' is getting an official sequel from controversial director, Mel Gibson.

Mel Gibson’s long-awaited sequel to The Passion of the Christ, entitled The Resurrection of the Christ, has a release date, The post Mel Gibson Releasing Resurrection of the Christ Part One and Two in 2027 appeared first on MovieMaker Magazine.

The deal continues Gibson’s long association with Lionsgate, where he made his two most recent films: his Oscar-nominated WWII drama Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield, and the thriller Flight Risk starring Mark Wahlberg. The studio is also the distributor for the Icon library including The Passion of the Christ.
