William, the Prince of Wales, will attend the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday on behalf of his father, King Charles III, Kensington Palace confirmed on Tuesday, per the BBC. Pope Francis died at 88 on Monday. His cause of death was a stroke, which resulted in a coma and the “collapse of his cardiovascular system,” per The New York Times.

For the second year in a row, the king's disgraced brother joined Easter Sunday services, while William and Kate's family stayed away.

King Charles previously met with Pope Francis in 2019, during the canonization ceremony of Cardinal Newman at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. (Cardinal Newman was the first English saint since the Forty Martyrs were canonized in 1970, and the first British saint since St. John Ogilvie in 1976.)
