Millions of people in Spain, Portugal and parts of France lost power on Monday due to an unknown grid issue, the Spanish government confirmed to ABC News.

Spain, Portugal and France have been hit by huge power outages, leaving cities without electricity and the internet. Airports in Madrid, Seville, Barcelona and Valencia have been affected, sparking travel chaos, while parts of southern France have also been hit.

Spanish radio reports that in the French Basque Country, the lights were out for only a short period. Currently, in Bilbao and Vitoria, on the Spanish side of the border, some parts of the city have their lights on. Bilbao is one of the first cities to see the lights come back on, but the Metro continues to be closed.
