A woman who lived across the street from a Family Dollar store in Kansas City said she tried to warn others that the building was dangerous

A city inspector visited the Family Dollar store shortly before it collapsed. Another neighbor also said it looked like the building had a "structural issue."

The building at Broadway Boulevard and 37th Street was added to Kansas City's dangerous buildings list on Monday, the day after the collapse. Kansas City defines a dangerous building as a structure with defects that are "detrimental to the life, health, property, safety or welfare of the public, or its occupants are endangered."
