President Donald Trump announced an additional 25% tariff on India as punishment for importing Russian oil, according to a document posted on the White House website — an escalation of his trade battle with New Delhi and his first use of so-called secondary sanctions on countries the US says are fueling Moscow’s war machine.

U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Wednesday imposing an additional 25% tariff on goods from India, saying the country directly or indirectly imported Russian oil, adding to 25% tariffs already announced.

With the new US tariffs imposed by Donald Trump, India will have to pay a 50% import tariff on most of its goods. The Ministry of External Affairs has called the US tariffs unfortunate.
