Coco Gauff exits Indian Wells after a three-set defeat to Belinda Bencic, who extended her stirring comeback from giving birth.

Belinda Bencic stunned No. 3 seed Coco Gauff 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday at Indian Wells and will face another American, Madison Keys, in the quarterfinals.

Belinda Bencic acknowledged the ninth game of the third set was "the turning point" of her Indian Wells win against Coco Gauff and also revealed that she sensed the home favorite being tight in that faithful game and wanted to put as much pressure as possible.

Bencic beat Gauff 3-6 6-3 6-4 in two hours and 20 minutes on Wednesday, while also claiming her second victory over a player inside the top five of the rankings in 2025
